You have to register to visit the beta support forum. We will discuss beta program status, bugs, fixes, and wishlists on that forum only.

During the past 3 days, the response from test users of Wukong has shocked us. We thought Mark will tell a handful of his friends only. We were not prepared for this much attention yet.

Today, we officially open the project wukong beta test support forum. The forum name "Project Wukong Beta Test" will show up only for registered users. The registration is simple and quick.

We will only release future beta binary links in the "Project Wukong Beta Test" forum.

The forum allows you to upload images by using "Additional Options"->"Attach" feature. Max image size is set to be 2MBytes each.

See you there.

Well, I hope it was a good shock :-) I can't imagine a more interested group of testers than this, or a more active one. To a man (or woman) these people all CARE about photography and, especially, new and simpler approaches to expanded dynamic range. I've been really bogged down with a large project of my own (editing a book) and have had little time to work on Wukong as yet. I hope that will change soon.

Hey Bear I have to agree with you. I think that with all of us here Wukong will be off the charts once released to the public.

We feel honored to be involved with this group of people. I have never met such passionate, humble and tolerant people (starting with Mark). And I have never been so sure that we will build something great together.

Cheers.

You have to realize -- you're offering us a chance to play with out photos.  Since I'm not a professional per se, I relish the opportunity to sit down and try new techniques.  It's a relaxing hobby.

Additionally, you're giving us a chance to really understand the workings of a program and create cool images while we're at it.  From a photographer who's primary income is Software Engineering, this is great fun!

HDR Imaging was developed to cope with the problems of compressing dynamic ranges that are way beyond the 8-to-9 stop range of a normal, good DSLR, in particular, all scenes that include the light source. There's also another, more specialised use in creating 'light probes' so that CGI special effects can be inserted into movies.

What has happened is that HDR software such s Photomatix, has been taken up not for this basic purpose, but to make use of the tonemapping algorithms, which can be made to produce weird results. Nothing wrong with that, if that's what some people want, but the core HDR use is to solve a problem. Wukong, thank goodness, seems committed to this.

Anyone who is confused about what images to use it on should, I recommend, think about purpose first. Strange results are entirely secondary.
